blue planet andamans

getting there

All our accommodation is on Havelock Island and Long Island, Andaman Islands. To get to the Andaman Islands, the easiest way is to fly from Chennai or Kolkata, the flight takes 2 hours with a choice of airlines: Kingfisher, Indian Airlines or Jet. Flights take you to Port Blair, the capital. You can also go by ship from Chennai or Kolkata, an interesting trip taking 4 days!

We would strongly recommend you make Havelock your “first stop” destination on Andamans because of regular twice-daily boat sailings plus the new, privately-operated catamaran service, MaKruz. If you want to go directly to Long Island, you will need to stay at least one night in Port Blair, and you can get there as follows:

by boat

Boats go from Port Blair via Neil Island and Havelock on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays (fast boat, stopping only at Havelock) and Saturdays at 6.15am, arriving at approximately 1pm.  Boats go back to Port Blair on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays (fast boat at 2pm), and Sundays.

To and from Rangat, on North Andaman, there are daily boats from Long Island leaving at 7am and 2pm and returning at 9am and 4pm, making it a good option for day trips or for moving on to Mayabunder and Diglipur.

Boat timings can change: check out the up-to-date situation on www.and.nic.in

by bus

There are daily buses from Port Blair at 4am and 11am, travelling via the Andaman Trunk Road to and from Rangat; journey time by road is about 6 hours.

Long Island is a good place to include in your itinerary if you intend to visit Neil Island, Havelock, and move on to destinations in North Andaman such as Mayabunder and Diglipur. We are more than happy to advise if you are planning such a trip, we can even help you with your own individual "package tour"! Just get in touch.

Even if you want to make your own arrangements, we can arrange to meet you at the airport and get you to your choice of accommodation in Port Blair: again, just let us know.
