Things to do on Long Island

Neighbouring ‘Guitar Island’ is stunning.

First of all, relax and give yourself time to adapt to the pace of life on this lovely island.

Relax on the beach or go snorkelling

There are beaches 5 minutes’ walk from Blue Planet, and at Lalaji Bay, 1 or 2 hours’ walk through pristine forest: do this gently and take a packed lunch! There is fresh water spring near to Lalaji. Both beaches are good for snorkelling.
We are happy to arrange snorkelling trips either from the shore or from a boat, for people who prefer to go with an instructor.

Scuba Diving

The Andaman Islands are a world-class destination for scuba diving, and the area around Long Island has some of the best dive sites in the Andamans. We are still exploring! We can offer a great experience for experienced and inexperienced divers alike: check out our Scuba pages.

Boat trips

Take a boat trip to a deserted beach

You can take boat trips to Lalaji and/or Merk Bay, on North Passage Island, the most delightful, secluded beach you are ever likely to see: and you may see dolphins on the way to or from there!

You can venture further afield to the exotic Button Islands: North Button, South Button and Middle Button are only accessible from Long Island, and we can arrange a permit for you.

Day trips

You can go to Rangat on North Andaman for a day trip: it’s a lovely boat ride  through the mangrove creeks, and you can shop in the main bazaar at Rangat and/or visit the beach at Amkunj.

You can take a day trek to Lalaji Bay: a beautiful walk through forest to a sublime beach, taking a packed lunch.

We can arrange guided treks for you: talk to us at the resort!

You can explore the village, visit local temples, shop in the bazaar where you will find no tourist items or prices!

Take time to watch the world go by in the shade of trees by the green in the centre of the village: Sunday is the day to watch cricket! Or sit by the sea-shore and watch some spectacular sunsets.

The view over Guitar Island from Blue Planet beach.

Above all, Blue Planet is a place where you can relax and enjoy the family atmosphere in the company of our staff and other guests. You can just lie in a hammock and listen to the birdsong.
